Asics Gel-Lyte III “Backstreets of Japan”

The Asics Gel-Lyte III is, for many, the best silhouette out there. Some may argue that it is a true game-changer when it comes to fotwear history.

Originally released in 1990, far ahead of its time, and created by head-designer Shigeyuki Mitsui, and even though the Japanese giant has been rather quiet on the first quarter of 2021, this release is a true banger.

The “Backstreets of Japan” pack is delivered in two totally distinct colourways of the GL3. One is rather flamboyant, boasting hues of Aqua Angel and Mako Blue that represents Tokyo’s night life and advertisings; while on the other hand a more neutral make-over is also presented, delivered in Ivory Black, relating to the city’s concrete buildings. After all, they both portray a different mood and time of day.

However, apart from all these inspirations, the whole sneaker itself is just like what we expect it to be. Starting from the top, it is still delivered with a mixture of suede and mesh, as well as with its split-tongue arrangement, allowing for a contoured fit and optimum stability when on feet.

Lastly, and just like the original pair from back in the day, a GEL cushioned sole unit can be found underneath, delivering cloud-like comfort.

You can find both pairs on our online shop. Don’t sleep on it and get yours now!
